Hi,

I am having trouble running my voice recognition software.
An error appears saying: "This application has failed to start because scmsgfile.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem".
Is this to do with harmony voice rec?
Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks S

Hi,
It's not an error raised by voice rec code directly.

I suspect it's the VR engine.

What OS are you running, and what engine is selected?

Rob.

Thanks Rob,

After a bit of 'digging' i found that it 'is' related to the VR engine which is Elan Sayso/Tempo Telecom - something to do with the data logging!
Not sure how to solve this? or
What software i need to reinstall?
I may send an email off to them, unless anyone on here has a solution. Or a reliable source where i can get the software from?

Thanks

S

PS i'm running Vista OS

I'm not familiar with "Elan" - afraid you're on your own figuring that one
out!

As for a Harmony VR Engine on Vista, I stand behind the one that is an
option if the MS Office (2003?) Installation, as specified on the voice rec
order page.

If you don't mind, please keep me "in the loop" on this one - either on
the forum, or by email. Interested in the resolution, and adding
compatibility for more VR engines.

Thanks,

Rob

TBH I've not got a clue where this engine came from??
Probs part of the laptop company software.
I thought I was using the one that come with MS office!!

Think i will download the microsoft 'Speech SDK 5.1' software. (Just found a page on the microsoft website.)

Also i have sent an email off to Acapela who own the Elan voice engine and i will let u know what they reply with for future reference.

I am at work at the moment and will do all this later this afternoon when i surface from my pit!

Cheers anyway Rob

PS How is the IR coming on? Got a release date yet? and the Android app?

Even though i have emailed rob regarding this i thought i would let anyone else who looks at this know the outcome for future reference.

It turns out that i had my text to speech set to a third party voice engine called Elan.

So with a selection of the Microsoft voice rather than the above the problem is now sorted!

Now time to have a look at microphones that will work well when i am sat on the setee!

Looking forward to the IR component being released, cant wait to get harmony to turn on the tele and select the channel i want to watch

Cheers
S
