Desperately waiting for the IR control to go on sale! Missed out on the
alpha test due to finances at the time but now ready to buy!
After reading these posts it looks like it will be a while before it goes on
sale! Have we got a approx date? Cost?
Could it be incorporated into the iPhone/iPad app that should also be
due to be released?

Thanks S

You've not missed out on the Alpha - nightmare with 3rd party driver signing, me having no internet access for way too long.... email me if you want to sign up now :-). You couldn't have timed it better if you tried!

As with all Harmony Components, this will integrate smoothly with the iDevice & Android Components.

Hiya Rob,

How much would i have to pay to join the Alpha?

Are the Idevice & Android Components due for release soon? Have they been through testing?

Cheers

Alpha entry fee is £75 + P&P, which includes the IR Hardware (Thus making in ~£25 cheaper than the release will be).email me ASAP if you want in.

iDevice & Android are queued up; I have basic functionality working here, but not ready for public testing at present.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi all,

As far as I am aware, Rob still doesn't have the BT phone line working, hence he has no broadband.

I'll be uploading Drivers & Test App within the next few days.

Thanks,

Guys... this one needs to be reined in. A six month delay is a long time
in anyone's book and would test the patience of the most saintly
amongst us. Can we have some movement here... please do not give
dates if they are not to be fulfilled. People paid hard cash in good faith.
Isn't it time to see some return on that?

Hi Lenny,

It is underway.

Rob released the IR driver to me this weekend for pre-Alpha checks, and I have already sent him feedback. Rob will open up the IR section of the forum when the initial release is ready for the Alpha testing. If we are lucky, that may be today

Lenny,

That's a fair call; this has been significantly slower than I ever anticipated.

On the plus side, Homer has tested the IR Driver (the part responsible for a large part of the delay) over the weekend. The results are very positive! I didn't want to release the driver without pre-testing, as it has the potential to break a windows installation / cause a mess.

I can post the driver to the forum immediately if that's what everyone wants; but my intention was to wait until the test app was fully functional, as the driver alone is of little practical use. Test app - Homer is highlighted a couple of issues, which I will be working on this week.

Thanks,

Rob

I'd like the driver if possible as I'd like to try installing the hardware via my network usb hub to see if it's picked up ok. If it's not then I'll need to run the tests from my netbook just now and worry about running permanent usb cables to the right places later....

Ross,

I hadn't thought of that. I'll post the driver and documentation to the forum today (Tuesday), when I'm on a PC, rather than a phone . Please, let us all know how you get on with the network USB hub. If it transparently appears to Windows as a local device, I would expect it to work well, which is nice

Before installation, please take an image/full backup of your PC just in case the driver breaks anything!

Thanks,

Rob.

Rob,

Dont forget, you still have my Belkin LAN attached USB hub

The issue we had with the one wire dongle was that the drivers did not allow enough time for the commands and response to come back across the LAN, not sure if this driver takes this into account.

Steve,

Timing is much less of an issue with the IR device, so fingers crossed! I haven't forgotten about your Belkin Box - the question is which container is it in!

More than likely to be in the least accessible, going on recent luck!

I'm just setting permissions on the forum now. Password will be sent VERY soon. I'll post a note here when it's gone out, in case anyone is missed of the mailing list.

Thanks,

I have just this minute sent out an email to all registered testers.

If you do not receive it shortly, please check your SPAM filter, and if it's not there, email me directly.

Thanks,

Rob
