Question:
Hi, i have seen your stuff advertised, and i am very intrested in this can you please tell me would i would need to do all this stuff in my home i did read you dont need any additional wires to do all this so could you please tell me what i would need to get and the price as i would be starting from scratch many thanks for your time carl.
Answer:
Hi Carl,
Harmony can control a very simple home automation system, and it it can then be expanded to cover your entire house.
A simple X10 system would require:
1. Harmony Home Automation Software (Home/Pro or Installer).
2. A CM11 (See part number 12006).
3. Plug in switching X10 Appliance Modules.
4. Or if you like dimmers, X10 lamp modules.
There are other X10 modules, but these models allow you to set the device code with a screwdriver. If you set an appliance module to 'B12', then you would add a device with the same address in Harmony. You can now plug these devices in around the house, and yes, they do use the existing house wiring to send and receive signals.
Remote controls can also be added to this system:
5. You will need an rf remote control., and a transceiver module.
Note that one of the biggest advantages Harmony has, is that it can control other manufacturers equipment too, such as the Bye Bye Standby range, and many of the high end automation products.
Please let us know if you need any more information.
