Hi all,

I am thinking of cutting a couple of round holes in my loft hatch, and fitting two fans. Reversible fans could blow hot air upwards in the summer, and downwards in the winter.

Control won't be a problem once we have the Harmony 1-wire software working, but does this sound like a sensible thing to do ? Can anybody see any problems with this ?

Your biggest problem is going to be air quality. All lofts are or should be vented from the outside usually in theform ofventsinthe soffit board. This causes impurities from the air to circulate in the loft. One of the nastier ones is glass fibre from your insulation. Intaking this poluted air from the loft would thus cause health problems. Expelling would be better done through the wall to the outside as blowback can also occur back through an expeller fan. The expelled air into the loft would also be agitating the aforementioned glass fibre particles.

Hope this helps

Lenny

Thanks for that Lenny,

Since I am an ex-miner, and already have asthma, I think I had better shelve this idea
