During the week my timed BBSB events stopped working, I
restarted Harmony and the BBSB addin but no luck, I
rebooted the BBSB controller and the router, still
nothing. Today I have disconnected everything from the
router (inc wireless devices) and plugged in my laptop
and the BBSB controller, I have then logged into the
router and checked the connected devices, only the laptop
is showing. BBSB Viewer says Started Logging on Port
53007
BBSEM [000D38 0.0.0.0]: DHCP timeout: 81
BBSB controller has 2 rapidly flashing leds next to the
power and a solid led next to the ethernet port

Any ideas on what I can try next

Hi Beau,

The viewer shows the controller
attempting to get an IP address from the
router via DHCP, but failing to do so.
This is evident from "DHCP time-out"
and IP 0.0.0.0
Check that the router has unused
addresses in the DHCP pool. (how this is
done depends on your router)

Another option is to assign a static IP
address to the controller, so that DHCP
isn't needed. Details on how to do this
are available on this forum (search for
'static IP').

Let us know how you get on,

Rob

I think I have found a reason and a workaround but not a
solution. The BBSB controller does not play nicecely on a
Gigabit network. I changed my router about a month ago, the
old router gave a 30 day lease, the BBSB controller appears
to have kept its IP until a few days ago. I connected the
controller to the old router it grabbed an IP then I
patched it back into the new router and it worked. I need
to put a slow switch in the network to keep BBSB working!

I want to try giving the BBSB controller a static ip, I
have found a post on the BBSB forum that says "Send the
following message to the controller (after putting it
into 'programming mode' by pressing the button on the
controller): A:192.168.000.047_255.255.255.000_192.168.000.001:E"

How do I send the command to the controller and what
should the Leds on the controller be doing so that I know
it is in programming mode?

Good Morning.

You'll need the "BBS Viewer" - you may well already have it - if not,
search for it on this forum, and the BBS Forum.

Run the viewer, and it will show you what the controller is doing, as
well as allowing you to send commands to it, such as the A:xxx
command.

Enter the correctly formatted command in the textbox, but don't
send it just yet! Press the small black button on the back of the
controller. The viewer will show "entering programming mode". Now,
within about 10 seconds, click Send - you'll see the controller
respond to the command, and if it was correctly formatted, the
controller will now restart with the desired static IP.

Hope that helps,

Rob.
