Since getting my CM11 and using the USB interface I have found that my sheduled events ocasionaly dont work.
If I reset the COM port I find that backlog of events will then trigger.

Looking through the event log there appear to be lots of communication errors to COM2

As I have Windows 7 64bit I have found a PCI card with 2*RS232 port that is compatable with my version of Windows.

I will update this thread with the result for anyone who may have the same OS as me and experiencing simaler issues.

Hi Chris,

Did you check if your mobo has a serial header hidden somewhere on the pcb ? Many of them do, even if they don't supply the cable and bracket.

I must admit, that I have kept away from USB after reading the issues people have had, but Rob found some USB drivers that worked for him.

Hi Homer,
It is a PC World PC with no mobo manual.
I thought it easyer to just order a PCI card than spend the day searching for the manual.

Once I have everything stable I will be able to start to play.

I finaly found time to install my PCI card with 2*RS232 port.

Windows 7 64Bit did not pick it up straight away but a quick right nouse click to update drivers then selecting the online resorce resolved this

Connected my CM11 and changed the bitrate to 4800 and com port to 2 and nothing worked.
As the PCI card was a 2 Port card I then did the same to the other port and I had communication with all my devices.

Since I have installed this PCI card it has been completly stable without any issues.

In my opinion I would recomend using a dedicated PCI card instead of the USB to COM converter on Windows 7 64bit.

The link below is where I go the card from.

My pc died a couple of weeks ago and I'm thinking about getting a mini
pc fan less and a ssd so hopefully should last longer.

My question is it doesn't have a serial port but does have USB and was
wondering would this pin-male-adapter-zp43w">Work

This is the

PC
if anyone is interested

Hi Chris,

I've looked at the Maplin product - but couldn't see
what chipset it uses; this has been important
previously; best results were found using Prolific /
FTDI chipsets -- but that was some time ago and of
course, it's all OS/Driver dependent.

I have a box full of brand new/unopened USB->232
adaptors in storage (I use one with my CM11 and
another with the Dupline interface), but it's going to
be a couple of weeks before I can get to them -- if
you've not had any joy in the mean time, give me a
shout and I'll dig some out and send you one on a try-
before-buy basis, if that's of any help.

Thanks,

Rob
