I installed and ran the Pro edition on my main PC for a few months (XP) all worked ok (but could never get the CM11 working on USB). I recently reinstalled the software on my Media PC running Vista ultimate 32bit - so that I could use the MCE interface (my original intention for getting the software). All works fine (as long as it is not CM11 via USB) using RS232, and the WUI is fine. However I cannot get the MCE interface to run on each occasion I get: Invalid Application - Unable to Launch "HarmonyMCE" I have been over all posts in this forum, uninstalled, reinstalled, cleaned the reg, installed with MC running and not running, run the MCE install and uninstall.vba rebooting between etc.. etc... all to no effect - just the same old message. I have tried the software from the website, as well as the CD. All windows updates are good. Old XP PC is discarded and all is running on same mediaPC. < http-equiv="Content-" content="text/; charset=utf-8">< name="ProgId" content="Word.">< name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 12">
I don't know if it has any relevance but I could not get the Backup
(from XP) to restore to Vista - but I can redo all this (14 lights) manually,
so is not an issue.
As there are few posts on this subject, I assume everyone else has got it to run - any Hints or tips ? would be much appreciated.

Hi PaulS,
1. I guess you already know that the CM11 USB drivers have caused issues for a lot of people. Rob Iles has got them to work, but most of us stick with RS232 since even modern mobo's tend to have headers for a back plane socket.
2. I had the MCE interface working well on Vista with no problem at all, and now have it working on Win7 premium.
I guess we need to get all the info down here for when Rob finishes his Xmas break !
So:
3. You now have Harmony core AND Harmony MCE on a Vista Ultimate pc ?
4. What version Harmony core and Harmony GUI ?
5. Where did you download the MCE from ? (Which url ?)
6. Do you mean the Harmony restore tool could not restore XP configuration files to Vista ?
I can't help thinking that this is a Harmony registration problem. Can you check that too ?

Homer - thanks for getting back to me so promptly 1 - yes I added backplate from mobo - so this is not an issue any longer 2 - Noted, gives me some hope as this is my prime objective. 3 - Yes I have Harmony core AND Harmony MCE on a Vista Ultimate pc (modules installed Core, WUI, MCI & WM11 - all on 1 pc, old pc is decommissioned) 4 - Harmony core and Harmony GUI is all from the Harmony 2007 Pro Edition CD Purchased September 2009 5 - I downloaded the (second copy of MCE) from the Domia download page (at same time as the B'U software), hoping it may have been updated since the CD was produced URL = http://www.domialifestyle.com/Downloads.asp 6 - Yes the Harmony restore tool could not restore XP configuration ) files (from old PC) to Vista (MediaPC) - I get a the message "Error Restoring Configuration" in a pop-up window. The backup file is a reasonable size and no errors were reported when I backed up - I have tried several backups (all dated differently )which appear to go OK. The B/U & Restore is not a big issue as said previously - I can redo this by hand, but I thought it may throw some light. 7- Harmony registration problem, to me it all appears to be registered OK. When I go to the activate Software - it states that HPROF2007 is registered, if I try to Activate it a second time I get "This product has already been successfully activated"
I will try deactivating and reactivating and get back to you. Many Thanks

Just deactivated and reactivated the 2007 Prof software, followed by a reboot, with no change. Windows User Interface - works fine, MCI gives error Invalid Application - Unable to Launch "HarmonyMCE".
Or were you thinking its a windows Registry problem ? - I have uninstalled all software rebooted and done a reg clean, prior to reinstalling in the past to no effect. But perhaps I should use a more suitable Reg cleaner than that within the latest CCleaner, which may not do a deep clean - just common items. As this is a mediaPC - I am trying to keep all installed software to a minimum. Regards.

Hi PaulS,
We will have to wait for Rob on this one. At this time of year he will be resting after delivering all those presents last week
As for the Harmony restore program, I have noted on previous PC builds that it fails the first time, then seems OK next time. Maybe if you save the present configuration, then restore with the XP configuration it may work ! I'm hoping not to have to do any rebuilds in the near future to test that theory out

Any idea's here ?
Hopefully Rob has put the reindeer away (I really shouldn't be telling you that) and can cogitate on this one
I don't think its a registry problem, unless your registry cleaners have damaged something, but since you have re-installed it's out of the frame for me.

Hi Both,
I had this problem, the harmony software for media center has to be ran from the main media center menu, (i had this info from Rob), but my installation didn't put harmony in the main startup menu.
The reason being that microsoft have coded media center to only allow two custom items at once.
If you go into media center then tasks / settings / general / program library options / edit start menu /
Make sure harmony is ticked , if not tick it and restart media center. Should now appear in the start menu, and work!

Chris Spot-On !! I took your advice and MCE controls now work without the error message. I did have 2 other programs installed one of which I removed, and all is well. The only thing is it cant find the lighting image file used, but I am sure I will work that one out, in time. I can only do maintenance etc.. on the MediaPC when the wife is not watching TV or recording something. Again thanks to all for your help, and thanks Homer for getting back to me on the issue so promptly. PaulS
