Hi,
I have an interesting issue! Basically the function to dim a CBUS device to 60% is not working. 10,20,30,40,50,70,80,90 and 100 all work fine, but 60, though showing in the live log as taking place does not seemingly get through to the PAC. Might sound silly but I've torn my hair out over this (60% is just the right setting for an ambient scene which I'm controlling over an X10 remote and getting harmony to set the CBUS accordingly)
Also, will there ever be a setting for just 'dim up' or 'dim down' as right now I'm using several buttons on the remote for different steps, i.e 20, 40, 60, etc?
Thanks for any help,
Pat

Hi Pat,
I must admit, it's been a long time since I've looked at Harmony-Cbus code. I'll try to do so this week/weekend, and let you know what I find.
As for Cbus 'dim up' or 'dim down' - - again, if I remember correctly, the CBUS PAC only has a concept of "Go to level X", rather than "start ramping up / down until I say stop".
What is the model number of the dimmer your using?
does "dim60" do anything (even something 'wrong'), or does it appear to be ignored completely?
when Rob.Memory.Refreshed==True; , I'll post a reply.
Please *NAG* if I don't get back to you by monday/tuesday.

Thanks Rob,
It's a bit strange but it does seem to be a genuine bug! It does nothing seemingly - if you manually set cbus to 90%, you can see that harmony tries to do 90 -> 60, but doesn't do anything... so it's getting the state but not setting it in that case.
The 'dim up' and 'dim down' feature - perhaps harmony could use the current level and go up or down 10% for each action?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Pat

To answer your other query, the dimmer in question is an 8 channel (1A per channel) cbus 2 dimmer, firmware version 1.3.0, it says 'catalog number' 5508D1A in the toolkit too if that helps.

Pat,
Haven't forgotten about you. I don't have access to that particular dimmer - I'm going to test against what I do have - a 4 channel 2A/Channel unit, and see what happens there. If mine works, then it suggests a difference in the Hardware that Harmony Component needs to account for - - if mine doesn't work, then it suggests I've got it wrong in the 1st place - oops!
Will be in touch soon,
Rob

Eeek - sorry - - short answer "not yet"
Longer answer - I tried it with my Cbus Dimmer (4 Chan, 2Amp), and it worked fine. Tried to get hold of an 8 Channel 1 Amp dimmer - - was outbid on ebay for the two I could find (over a period of two weeks or so) - and then it slipped my mind. Sorry.
Can't afford to buy one at retail price for one-off testing - will run through the tech specs tonight and see if there's anything there that sheds light on it (no pun intended).
If nothing in formal spec is different, is there any possibility of borrowing your dimmer? or is it wired in to a "living system" ?

Rob,
Heh, I'd love to lend you my dimmer but it indeed wired into my house - if you're ever up near Sheffield you are welcome to come probe harmony and the system as much as you like and cups of tea will be plenty!!
It's very strange I know but I honestly can't see a logical reason for it not to work!

Pat, Very kind of you; afraid Sheffield is a little far from my regular stomping ground though! I'll keep an eye open on ebay + other sites; if I can get a dimmer for testing at a reasonable price, I'll do so. Will keep you posted! (and please, *DO* remind me periodically if nothings forthcoming; workload > memory capacity at the moment!) Rob
